This statue of St. Francis of Assisi is actually placed at the gate of the garden of a Zen Monastery. The statue and its placement are symbols of two great religious traditions that both call us to find the divine in nature. ST. Francis loved animals and praised the beauty of the earth. The Zen practice urges us to be mindful of the beauty and fragility of our world.
