This is a very large dandelion, perhaps 6" across and I had seen a number of these years ago driving by a patch of weeds. I was very surprised this year to find one in my back yard. Luckily, I was able to photograph it before the gardener removed it, thinking it was simply a weed. But I just can't put the dandelion in the weed category. I find them wonderfully delicate and complex and very beautiful.
