People who live in other parts of the world tend to laugh when Californians describe their "winter" weather. It only snows in the mountains, so most of California does not have snow and never experiences extreme cold temperatures. But we have damp and fog and a cold that settles into your bones. It is our winter and while we don't have much of it, we do have some of its mystery and beauty.
I did some work on this in Photoshop, mostly to eliminate distracting details. I then worked to give it an almost eerie atmosphere in On One Perfect Effects. SO while this finished as a very different image from where it began, it does feel closer to what I experienced that damp, foggy morning.
