The foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame is St. Julie Billiart, a woman who lived during the French Revolution. She had a great vision of a better world for everyone that was inspired by her belief in the goodness of God, in every moment. I have been inspired by her words for almost 50 years and still can be amazed at the relevance of her wisdom in today's world.
The sunflower was a symbol of how St. Julie thought we should live, always turned toward light and goodness that is God. And the power of this symbol remains ever fresh as we live out our call to be the very goodness of God in our time.
