Description
This white Anemone, commonly called windflower, Japanese anemone, or thimbleflower, belongs to a group of perennials in the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). They are all the result of crossing two or three species, that are native to China but were erroneously called Japanese anemones because of an early record of one plant from Japan. The cultivar ‘Honorine Jobert’, an old garden hybrid discovered in Verdun, France in 1858, hand was selected as the Perennial Plant Association’s Perennial of the Year in 2016.
My good friends have the most marvelous array of flowers in their yards that I often go over with my camera to photograph them. There were many of these lovely white anemones and I had a great time choosing which one to "paint" to create this final image. I used one of Jai Johnson's Island Dreams textures and a 2 Lil Owls Rustic Linen texture to replace the background and use as color and texture overlays.
